Bing supports mental health in young children
Children’s Mental Health Week runs from the 9th to the 15th of February, and we’re marking it with activity across our UK digital and social platforms. The focus is on helping families recognise and talk about emotions in early childhood, using Bing episodes and resources that reflect how young children experience, and learn to label, their feelings.
We’ve identified episodes that explore key emotions, each reflecting everyday moments that preschoolers recognise, from anger and disappointment to joy and surprise. Alongside these stories, the campaign includes practical materials families can use with their Bingsters: activity sheets, video content, and images to support parents and carers navigating emotional development in the early years.
Young children don’t always have the vocabulary to express what they’re feeling, and that’s where stories can help. When a three-year-old sees Bing feeling frustrated because his tower falls down, or anxious about trying something new, it gives them a way to recognise those feelings in themselves and begin to find words for them. For parents, these moments can open up conversations that might otherwise feel difficult to start.
This important week gives us the opportunity to focus on the key emotions and learnings from Bing.
